The private rules you follow that no one else knows about are often the most honest accounting of what you have learned about yourself. These are not the habits you would explain to someone else, but the specific ways you have figured out how to move through your days without breaking something important. You might always read the last page of a book first, or never make plans on the anniversary of a particular date, or check your bank account only on Tuesdays. What looks like superstition from the outside is usually precision from the inside. The rule exists because without it, something in your life stops working as well.
