Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world
L.M. Montgomery
The same conversation keeps happening, and you keep having it as if it were the first time. You notice this about other people before you notice it about yourself: how they circle back to the same complaint, the same excitement, the same question they think they are asking for the first time. When you finally see your own version, it arrives with a particular kind of embarrassment, the way catching your reflection in a window does. The thing you keep reaching for in these repeated moments is not actually in the conversation. It is in the reaching itself, which means the conversation was never going to satisfy it.
