The person you were a few years ago handled things in ways that now make you tired to remember. You can see how much effort went into making other people comfortable, even when their comfort required you to be smaller or quieter or more agreeable than felt true. What strikes you now is not how wrong that version was, but how much work it took to maintain. The exhaustion was not from the people or the situations but from the constant translation between what you actually thought and what you said out loud. You are hungrier now, but for different things.
