The work you have been doing without being asked to do it feels more necessary than the work on your actual list. You took it on because no one else was looking at it the way you were looking at it, and now it has become the thing you think about first when you wake up. This happens when you can see the shape of what needs doing before other people can see that anything needs doing at all.
