The weight of a choice often comes from what you have not said about what you actually want from it. You frame it as choosing between two good options when really you are trying to talk yourself into settling for what feels safe to request. The decision becomes impossible because you are solving for the wrong problem. What feels like analysis is actually the long work of admitting that the thing you want most is the thing you have been most careful not to name. Once you name it, the choice becomes much smaller, and much clearer.
