The expectation you have been carrying around is not actually yours, and you can tell because it sits differently in your chest than your own wants do. Someone else's version of what you should want has a particular weight, heavier and more urgent than the things that actually pull you forward. You have been polite about this borrowed hope for long enough that it started to feel like obligation.
