The boundary that has been tested this week was never about keeping others out. It was about keeping yourself from doing what you have always done, which is to step in when no one else will. Every time you hold the line, you are also holding the weight of what does not get handled when you refuse to handle it. The people around you are learning that your availability has edges, and some of them are learning it badly. But the boundary that costs you something to maintain is the only boundary that will hold when you are not there to enforce it.
