Prayer in the sense of petition, asking for things, is a small part of it; confession and penitence are its threshold, adoration its sanctuary, the presence and vision and enjoyment of God its bread and wine.
C.S. Lewis
The creative idea that has been sitting with you, the one without an obvious home, is not looking for you to build it a place right now. It is asking you to let it exist as itself first, before you decide what it should become or where it should live. Most good ideas get forced into shapes too early because the person holding them mistakes tending for directing. You can feed something without steering it, can give it room without giving it a deadline. The idea knows more about its own timing than you do, and right now it just wants to be held.
