Cancer

The version of yourself that you outgrew is still trying to solve problems you no longer have. You can feel it in the way your first response to certain situations comes from a place you thought you had moved past, the immediate reach for solutions that belonged to someone you used to be. This older self had good reasons for the strategies it developed, and those strategies worked for a time. But what worked then can become interference now, a helpful voice that has not noticed the room has changed. The kindest thing you can do is let that former problem-solver rest.
