That thing that has been bothering you is simpler than all the stories you have built around why it bothers you. You know what it is before you can explain it to yourself, which is why the explaining never quite matches the feeling. The layers you add when you try to make sense of it to someone else are like translations of translations, each one moving further from what your body already understands. What you felt in the first ten seconds, before you started being reasonable about it, is still the most accurate thing you know about the situation.
