What was said cannot be pulled back into the mouth that said it, but you can step back far enough to see what it was meant to accomplish and whether it did. Some words are meant to end something, others to begin it, and the hardest ones to live with are the ones that were supposed to change everything but changed nothing at all. The mistake is thinking the problem is the saying when the problem was always the hoping that saying would be enough.
