Born Today?

There is a version of yourself that you outgrew sometime in the last few years, and you still carry a strange loyalty to the person who needed to be that way. You remember the reasons that version made sense, the problems it solved, the way it kept you safe or moving or connected to people who mattered then. What feels complicated now is that you can see exactly why you had to be that person, and you can also see exactly why you cannot be that person anymore.
