The line you drew to protect something you care about has been pushed against this year, and the pushing has shown you something about both the line and the thing it was drawn around. Some boundaries exist because you know exactly what you are protecting and why. Others exist because you inherited them, or because you drew them quickly in a moment when you needed distance and never went back to check whether the distance still serves you. The year has been asking which kind this one is, and the answer is not as simple as you thought it would be. What you discover is that the line itself was never the point. The point was learning to recognize when you are standing too close to something to see it clearly, and when you are standing too far away to tend it properly. The year ahead will keep asking you to find the right distance, not the perfect wall.
